Living It Up

I’ve always been a bit of a loner, but just like most girls, I’ve got my best friends. We are all obsessed with the same things: music, fashion, boy, boys who like bands and boys who are in a band. Who wouldn’t be?
So, in the past year, I decided that I needed to be more social. I am always the loudest in the group. I crack jokes and try to show my friends a good time. My problem wasn’t that I wasn’t interacting enough. My problem was that I was rarely going out or doing anything.
My point is that my friends and I decided that we were going to start doing something new. We needed something to look forward to. We hate our jobs. We’ve explored this city to the max. We are at our prime and we all just needed something that we could talk to our kids and grandchildren about.
About sixty one days ago, we camped out to see 5 Seconds of Summer live at the Today Show. My ass was bruised. I was beyond cranky by the time the boys showed up. Everyone was pissed off because at one point we all thought no one was getting in. Yes, we got in. It took long enough. I lost my voice and almost passed out at the deli across the street after the show.
About thirty nine days ago, I visited Philadelphia for the first time. A friend and I got tickets to go see One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer (again) live. I didn’t sleep the night before. I was at the bus terminal to leave for Philly at six in the morning. We arrived at our hotel and luckily the room was ready for us. We got so close to meeting Ashton Irwin at this Cheesesteak place.
We get to the show and everyone is excited. The commercial for One Direction’s new perfume is shown. All you could hear was thousands of screaming girls cheering on the commercial. The show was sold out. Who wouldn’t be a bit hyped?
Anyways, 5sos starts the show and everyone is freaking out and singing along. There’s a debate between Pat’s and Geno’s cheesesteaks. Geno’s won (which reminds me that the next time I and/or we go back, we’re going to Geno’s). They were amazing that night. They all did the “thing” that makes us scream like crazy people. Mikey went all screamo on stage. Luke voice squeaked. Calum bass line was everything and Ashton’s drumming is already making history. Yeah! That happened.
Finally, it was One Direction’s time to perform. The entire show was mesmerizing. Harry screaming, ‘Long hair. Don’t care’ on stage and Liam dancing to Michael Jackson. Louis and Niall cracked jokes and Zayn didn’t say much, but he shined like the top of the Empire State Building. They all did.
By the end of the night, I had lost my voice (again). I was already having PCD (Post Concert Depression). I thought that I had imagined the whole thing (I have a really vivid imagination). I was half asleep and hungry. I was also excited, but sad to see that it was over.
By the time we made it back to the hotel, we had an order from IHOP to devour. I told my friend that we should stay awake and party some more. We fell asleep within an hour eating.
For me, this is a night I will never forget. I saw two of my favorite bands live all at once. I got to visit an amazing city and this was my first trip as an adult and being on my own. I guess it’s true. There really is something about being twenty.
