NYFW: My Favorite Looks

My favorite thing about fashion week is seeing what everyone's wearing and who designed what (obvs). I didn't go to fashion week, but I am a New York City girl and I got to enjoy
the NYFW environment. I saw a bunch of shows online and I got to see some pretty cool candids of my favorite bloggers and models. One of my favorite street styles this year was from Kylie Jenner. The girl slayed everywhere she went (this isn't news though). The Yousef Al-Jasmi minidress she wore... Yup! And her pink Balmain dress... Mhm. Speechless. My fashion obsessed heart was jumping with joy because of all the amazing clothing.  Kendall's emerald slip dress left me all heart-eyed emoji. When Emily Ratajkowski strutted at the Harper's BAZAAR Icon Party I had to snap in Z-formation.

One of my favorite moments is when Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger debuted their collaboration at the South Street Seaport pier. For years my dream coat was Harry Styles' navy blue Saint Laurent long coat. Now, it's the Long Military Wool Coat from the new Tommy x Gigi collection. So, Funny story. I had tickets to see Gigi and Tommy on The View. I overslept due to pulling a half-nighter for school. When my alarm went off, I didn't hear it. That says a lot since I am an extremely light sleeper. The moral of the story is do not pull a half-nighter when you have to be up for a show.

Anyways, apart from the street styles that I fell in love with, their were runways. Zimmerman, Tom Ford, Yeezy Season 4, Rebecca Minkoff, Badgley Mischka, Ryan Roche, and Tom Ford were all of my favorite shows. There were more of course, but if I went on we'd be here all day.

Oh, and I almost forgot! My inner fangirl emerged when I saw Wendy Nguyen of Wendy's Lookbook being photographed for her blog. Ah! I know. Just give me a moment...

Okay I'm back.

I'd love to hear what your favorite looks and catwalks are? Are any of you following LFW, MFW, PFW?

Until next time.

All the love,

Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice

Lately I've been contrasting the colors on my clothes with nature.  I'll tell you why. There were times where I got really bad anxiety attacks. They were random and scary. I never felt the symptoms of an attack. They pretty much happened instantly. They made me feel ten times more horrible afterwards if I was outside. Eventually I learned  that beside my mom and a special someone, nature brings me peace.
I've become very calm. Well, sort of. I  mean that I remember to "free my mind from the troubles of lately." Yes, I quoted Driftwood again. I repeat the word "driftwood" out loud and mentally remind myself to let go.  I am learning to stop trying to control the uncontrollable. When I was a little girl I thought the coolest thing was playing in the mud. I had no worries in the world. Now, I am a cliche twenty-two year old who obsesses over books, journals, coffee shops, sweater weather, and the kind of indie tunes played in Starbucks. I am also the cliche college student who is drowning in work and is now strangers with sleep. (Don't ask me why I managed to write this post when I should be studying for my test.)
Anyways, today I managed to look like a pumpkin . I even dreamed of a Pumpkin Spiced Latte the night before. To say that I look like October is an understatement. October and December are my favorite months. Right now I am waiting for the Halloweentown Marathons, Hocus Pocus nights, and lots of free candy. I may even dress up this year because no one is ever to old to trick-or-treat.
Until next time, I hope your sweater weather season is filled with lots of Halloween festivities, cool cafes with the indie songs no one ever really knows, and amazing comfy sweaters.
All the love as always. xx
P.S. I am happy to say that I've not had an anxiety attack in months. Cheers to that!

Dashiki x NYFW

NYFW Fall 2016 has already begun! I am so ecstatic! I am looking forward to seeing all of my faves on the runway and their model off duty candids. I love seeing what everyone is wearing. I love to predict the near fashion future based on street style and runways. I have runways I want to see from different fashion weeks. I'd love to see Gucci, Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Topshop, Tommy Hilfiger, Tom Ford, Puma x Fenty, Yeezy Season 4, etc. The list is endless and I'm to excited to sit still.

This season I am ready for what's to come. For months I have been talking about stepping out of my comfort zone and I have done just that. This dashiki is vibrant and flamboyant. It is basically two things I steer clear of. I love my black, but I made a promise to work on my confidence. I've been doing just that. Lately I have been grooving in front of the camera. I used to shy away and become frustrated because I wasn't confident enough to post most of the photos.

Well, here they are. They are unedited as usual, but I chose some photos where I was caught off guard. I chose to step out and say "hey! I am here. I am awesome." I felt awesome today as well. I radiated confidence. I'm proud of myself.

Anyways, enough about me. What are you looking forward to? Who are you looking forward to seeing? Which catwalk are you dying to see? What's you're favorite fashion week?
Stray tune for more!

Until next time.

All the love. xx

I am not her. She is not me.

For years I walked around comparing myself to what I see on social media and the telly. I am no supermodel. I'll never grace the cover of Vogue. I constantly deny my talent due to a severe case of modesty, but my therapist says otherwise.I know I have a lot to work on. The most important thing is self worth. I will never be my idols in any way. No more comparing and contrasting. Idols are meant to inspire and that's all they need to do.

I AM NOT HER. That's pretty straight forward. Isn't it? I don't have a million dollars and she does. I don't own most of Fifth Avenue and Rodeo Drive, but she does. I don't own a Maserati and I can't hop on a private jet because I'm bored, but she does and she can. She walk runways. I watch tutorials on youtube. She is irresistible and I am just me. She's perfect in every way. It's true! She's her own kind of perfect. No one can be her because she is already taken. Spoiler alert! We're just as perfect.

SHE IS NOT ME. I have been learning about the importance of individuality, self love, and self worth. I am one of a kind. It brings me joy to know I am limited edition. We are all limited edition. No one can be me. No can create the way I do. No one can grace this earth like I do. No one thinks like me or dreams like me. No one thinks like me or dreams like me. No one uses writing, reading, blogging, music, travel, concerts, and life as a catharsis the way that I do. Every millimeter on my body is unique and that goes for you too. I am my own kind of weird. I am my own kind of beautiful. I may never be able to do things the way my idols do, but that's the point. Things aren't meant to be copied. We are meant to create and reinvent. To do things our way.

SHE IS NOT YOU. Do you realize how special you are? How perfect and incredible you are? Do you understand that there will never be another you again? You are bigger than your body. You are larger than life. You are everything and more. The faster you realized that, the better. Life will begin when we end all of the comparisons we make of ourselves to other people. We'll be happy with a new sense of free.

The moral to the story is we are all one of a kind. I am not her. She is not me. You are not them. They are not you. WE ARE BLOODY PERFECT THE WAY WE ARE.

All the love, kindness, happiness, and peace as always.

Darianne xx

P.S. Happy NYFW everyone!
